Photography FAQ

Where are you located, and do you travel?

I’m currently based in Dallas, Texas, but I love photographing artists and events wherever your story takes me! I travel often for performances and sessions across the U.S., and even abroad when opportunities arise.

For all sessions, if I’m driving outside the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex, I simply charge a small travel tax rate to cover mileage. If I’m flying, you’ll only need to cover a flat rental car fee for the day we’re working together. Whether it’s across state lines or across the pond, I’m always happy to bring my camera (and a carry-on) to you!

How do I book a session?

You can fill out the contact form on my website or send me an email (laurenanitaphohotography@gmail.com) directly with what kind of session you’re interested in (headshots & portraits, productions, graduation, etc.). From there, we’ll talk through your goals, schedule, and location preferences. A signed contract and deposit will officially hold your date.

How long will it take to receive my photos?

Turnaround time varies depending on the session type, but most galleries are delivered within 2 weeks. With production photography, particularly opera, I do my best to edit and send out images within 24-48 hours, given the timeframe between orchestra dress rehearsals and the first performance. For all sessions, I always aim to send a few previews within the first week so you can start sharing right away! For headshots and portraits, if there needs to be quick turn around, I charge an additional 10% of the session fee.

How many images will I receive?

Each package lists an approximate number of final edited photos, but I always err on the generous side. I include all the best images that reflect your artistry and expression, never withholding great shots just to stay within a number.

What should I wear?

Think about what best represents you as an artist or professional. Solid colors and simple textures photograph beautifully and let your personality take center stage. I recommend bringing two outfits, one classic and timeless, and one that feels a bit more expressive or true to your artistic side.

Depending on your needs, you’re welcome to bring your tux or gown, audition attire, or something more business professional if you’re a young arts administrator or professor looking for a formal look. Once we book, I’ll send you a short styling guide to help you feel confident and fully prepared for your session.

Can I add extra time and locations?

Absolutely! You can always add more time, outfit changes, or a second location to your session for an additional fee. I want you to have a variety of looks and moments to choose from—especially if you’re building audition materials or a professional portfolio.

What is the Cap & Cadenza package?

Your artistry deserves to be celebrated, both on stage and in life. The Cap & Cadenza Package is designed for artists making the transition from student to professional, combining a full graduation session with a headshot and portrait session to capture your growth, personality, and presence.

We’ll create images that honor where you’ve been and where you’re headed—expressive, authentic, and full of life. This package offers two flexible options: you can schedule both sessions on the same day (my recommendation!) or split them across two different days. In total, this package includes two hours of shooting, up to four outfit changes, and up to two locations, with 100+ professionally edited images.

Together, these sessions are valued at $525, but are offered at a special rate of $425. For those presenting a senior recital, you can also add recital coverage for $100.

Celebrate your artistry from cap to curtain.

What if I'm interested in a studio session?

Studio sessions are absolutely an option! Sessions typically take place at The Lumen Room Denton or at a rented location that best fits your needs.

Studio rentals are available for an additional fee, and I’ll always help you choose the best space based on lighting, aesthetic, and your goals for the shoot.

I also love when friends book a studio together for their individual sessions—it’s such a fun, collaborative experience, and it’s become a popular option with past clients! For shared studio bookings, each person receives a 10% discount on their session rate, plus the studio fee divided between participants.

If you’re not sure whether a studio or outdoor session fits you best, I’m happy to talk it through and help you choose what will make you feel most confident in front of the camera.

Do you build websites for artists and organizations?

Yes! Depending on the needs of your site, I can help design and build a clean, engaging website that reflects your artistic identity or organization’s story. My focus is on creating sites that feel personal, functional, and visually connected to your brand, especially for artists.

I’m still growing my web design portfolio (and learning more with every project!), but I love collaborating with fellow creatives to bring their online presence to life. Whether you’re looking for a simple landing page, an artist portfolio, or a small business site, I’m happy to chat through what you envision and tailor something that fits both your goals and budget.
